Mandatory vaccines for CCAA Championships
The CCAA Board of Directors has unanimously voted that for all 2021-22 CCAA National Championships scheduled to take place after Nov. 1, 2021, all participants (including but not limited to student-athletes, coaches, team staff, officials, volunteers and game-day staff) are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, as defined by Health Canada.
EXEMPTIONS:
- CCAA recognizes that some participants may be unable to receive a vaccination for medical reasons, and / or may seek accommodation based on grounds protected by applicable provincial human rights legislation. Therefore, exemptions from the requirements contained within this Policy will be limited and subject to the following requirements:
- To the extent permissible by law only; if a participant has received a valid medical exemption from vaccination pursuant to the relevant provincial legislation, and / or an institution has provided an accommodation or exemption based on grounds protected by applicable human rights legislation, CCAA will recognize such exemptions and previously granted accommodations without requiring the participant to apply to CCAA for same. The participant must either provide acceptable documentation or direct the institution to forward the applicable documentation to CCAA, and consent in writing to CCAA reviewing and maintaining a copy of this documentation until the end of the event.
- If a participant is exempt from vaccination pursuant to section 1(a), the individual is required to provide a negative PCR test within 72 hours of the start of the event. They are also required to wear a mask at all times and maintain social distancing while attending the event, except during active physical participation in the event.
- For further clarity, this section is only applicable to CCAA National Championships hosted in jurisdictions that permit exemptions. It is the responsibility of each and every institution attending such CCAA National Championships to ensure all of their participants who will be attending are in compliance with all applicable host institution, provincial and / or federal and municipal legislation and public health orders before attendance at each and every CCAA National Championship.
