Medal Matchups Finalized After Intense Day 3 at CCAA Women’s Nationals
| Day 3 of the CCAA Women’s Volleyball National Championship delivered another full slate of high-intensity matches at the Niverville Community Resource and Recreation Centre. From placement play to dramatic bronze semifinal showdowns, teams continued to demonstrate resilience, depth, and championship-level execution. | Match 9 – Placement Match: Assiniboine College Cougars 3, Providence University College Pilots 1
Two Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference (MCAC) rivals met once again in the placement match, marking their seventh meeting of the season. Assiniboine College, who entered the match holding a 5–1 advantage in the season series, continued their strong play with a four-set victory over the host Providence University College Pilots (25-20, 25-21, 16-25, 25-13) to secure a seventh-place finish.
The Cougars Player of the Game Jordyn Bradbury, anchored the defence with consistent passing and 10 digs. CCAA All-Canadian Kylee Peaks led Assiniboine offensively with 12 kills while adding 16 digs. Heather Brost provided a strong presence from the service line with five aces, while setter Tyra Lasuik delivered another all-around performance with 31 assists, five kills, and three blocks.
For the Pilots, Player of the Game Abby Akinbolaji produced a standout performance, leading the team with 12 kills, 12 digs, and three blocks. Tyra Peters contributed 11 digs defensively, while Angele Turenne and Avery Pauls each added two blocks in the effort.
With the result, the Assiniboine College Cougars conclude the championship in seventh place, while Providence University College finishes eighth overall.
Cougars Tournament Statistical Leaders
Kylee Peaks led the team with 34 total kills and 36 digs, sharing the defensive lead with Jordyn Bradbury, who also recorded 36 digs. Tyra Lasuik facilitated the offence with 86 assists, while Heather Brost led the team with 11 service aces. Brost, Lasuik, and Marie Dunster each recorded three blocks to lead the team at the net.
Pilots Tournament Statistical Leaders
Tyra Peters led Providence with 27 kills and 30 digs over the tournament. Peters, along with Sydney Turenne and Georgia Friesen, shared the team lead in service aces with four each. Zoe MacLellan led the Pilots at the net with six total blocks.

| Match 10 – Bronze Semifinal: Vancouver Island University Mariners 3, Mount Allison Mounties 1
In an East Coast–West Coast matchup, the Vancouver Island University Mariners defeated the Mount Allison Mounties in four sets (25-16, 25-20, 20-25, 25-16) to advance to the bronze medal game. With the victory, VIU will have the opportunity to capture bronze for the second consecutive year.
Grace Greene was named the VIU Player of the Game after delivering a dominant performance, recording a match-high 12 kills on an impressive .611 hitting percentage while adding two service aces and two blocks. Grace Brisebois continued her strong play at the net with 10 kills and four blocks, while Regan Ingram led the Mariners defensively with 14 digs.
For the Mounties, Sarah Mason earned the Mount Allison Player of the Game honours with a team-high 11 kills and 10 digs. Ana McCain contributed a strong all-around performance with a match-high five blocks and 21 assists, while Mya Artibello added 12 digs.
With the result, Mount Allison concludes the championship tied for fifth place nationally, while Vancouver Island University advances to the bronze medal game scheduled for Saturday at 1 p.m.
Mounties Tournament Statistical Leaders Chloe Palmer led the team with 29 total kills, while Ana McCain directed the offence with 70 assists. Danielle Cumby recorded a team-high eight service aces. Sarah Mason anchored the defence with 34 digs, while McCain and Kaia MacDougall each finished with nine blocks. Mya Artibello ranked among the team leaders in multiple statistical categories, highlighting the Mounties’ balanced team performance throughout the championship.

Match 11 – Bronze Semifinal: Augustana Vikings 3, Humber Hawks 2
In a tightly contested and dramatic five-set battle, the Augustana Vikings defeated the Humber Hawks (25-20, 18-25, 20-25, 25-21, 15-8) to advance to the bronze medal match. After trailing 2–1 in sets, the Vikings responded with strong execution in the final two sets to complete the comeback victory.
Brooke McBride was named the 4imprint Augustana Player of the Game after contributing seven kills, two blocks, and one service ace in a key performance. Hadley Ziemmer led the Vikings offensively and defensively with 14 kills and 14 digs while adding two service aces. Taryn Watson recorded a double-double with 10 kills and 10 digs, while Katelyn Hennessy contributed 18 assists and three service aces.
For the Hawks, CCAA All-Canadian Hannah Manners earned the 4imprint Humber Player of the Game honours after leading all players with 17 kills and adding two blocks. Jesse McDonaugh directed the offence with 33 assists and eight digs, while Claire Ramos and Caitlyn Labelle each recorded 10 digs.
With the result, Humber concludes the championship tied for fifth place, while the Augustana Vikings advance to the bronze medal match against the Vancouver Island University Mariners scheduled for Saturday at 1 p.m.
Hawks Tournament Statistical Leaders Hannah Manners led Humber with 36 total kills, while Kaley Rawlick recorded 65 assists. Lexi Zicari finished with a team-high six service aces, Caitlyn Labelle anchored the defence with 34 digs, and Keyome Ellis led the team at the net with seven blocks, highlighting a balanced team effort throughout the championship.
