The Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) proudly announces Austin Dyer of the Lakeland Rustlers as the 2025 CCAA Women’s Volleyball Coach of the Year.
"Austin has established a powerhouse at Lakeland, having only dropped a single set all season," said CCAA Women’s Volleyball Convenor Beth Clarke. "Beyond the court, he's growing the game with youth, encouraging academic success, instilling values like gratitude and community involvement with his team, and that speaks volumes to the culture he's created and the lives he's touched." Now in his 16th season as head coach, Dyer has created emphasizes athletic excellence and personal development. His leadership has propelled Lakeland to new heights, improving upon last season’s impressive 18-1 record. Under his guidance, Rustlers athletes thrive on and off the court, maintaining a first-semester team GPA of 3.39 while actively giving back to the community. Dyer's commitment to the complete student-athlete experience extends beyond competition. He and his team are heavily involved in local initiatives, from coaching Rustlers youth volleyball clubs and running community awareness programs each semester to leading an annual food drive for the local food bank. This year, Dyer also took on coaching the "Little Rustlers" program, introducing 40 children between the ages of 6 and 8 to the sport of volleyball. Dyer is a strong advocate for mentorship, working with his fourth aspiring female coach, Sarah Hogue, continuing his tradition of developing future leaders in the sport. Several of his former protégés have gone on to lead college programs or serve as U SPORTS assistants. "Austin continues to move the women's volleyball program forward," said Lakeland College Athletic Director Alan Rogan. "His dedication to the program and the student-athletes he leads shows how the teams he has coached respect him and perform on and off the court." The CCAA Women’s Volleyball Coach of the Year receives a customized ring provided by Jostens Canada, the Official Ring Supplier of the CCAA. |
