UKC's Jamie McGinnis Named CCAA Men's Soccer Coach of the Year

The Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) is proud to announce Jamie McGinnis of the University of King’s College (UKC) as the 2025 CCAA Men’s Soccer Coach of the Year.
A dedicated and detail-oriented coach, McGinnis has built a culture rooted in accountability, respect, and teamwork. He has fostered an environment that encourages continuous improvement and personal growth, where players are challenged to excel not only in competition but also in the classroom and their community. His commitment to holistic athlete development ensures that his players graduate as stronger students, leaders, and citizens. McGinnis brings both technical expertise and a passion for mentorship to his role. Beyond tactics and training, he serves as a guiding influence during his athletes’ formative years, helping them navigate the balance between academics, athletics, and personal well-being. His open communication and leadership have created a program culture defined by trust, unity, and pride in representing the University of King’s College. “Jamie has set a high standard for coaching excellence,” said James Kryger CCAA National Convenor. “His commitment to his players, his team, and his program exemplifies the impact a coach can have both on the field and in the broader community." McGinnis also contributes to the soccer community beyond the collegiate level as Executive Director of Halifax County United Soccer and Head Coach of the HCU Premier Men’s team, where he continues to support the development of players across Nova Scotia. His dedication to advancing the game and mentoring future leaders reflects the values of the CCAA and the University of King’s College alike. Under McGinnis’ leadership, the UKC Blue Devils men’s soccer team completed an exceptional season with an 11-0-1 record, marking one of the most successful campaigns in program history. The Blue Devils demonstrated remarkable consistency, skill, and discipline throughout the season, earning recognition for their balanced play, defensive organization, and creative attack. McGinnis’ ability to maximize the potential of both veteran and first-year players was central to the team’s success, with multiple athletes earning national and conference honours during the year.
