Aaron Schulha wins 2014 CCAA Coaching Excellence Across All Sports Award

Aaron Schulha, head coach of the Red Deer Kings’ volleyball team in Red Deer, Alta., has been named the recipient of the2014 CCAA Coaching Excellence Across All Sports award.

In the past five seasons, Shulha’s leadership has earned Red Deer two ACAC silver medals, two ACAC gold medals, a 17-1 record in the 2013-14 regular season, and the 2014 CCAA Men’s Volleyball National Championship title. He’s twice been named the ACAC Men’s Volleyball Coach of the Year, and just last month he was named the 2014 CCAA Men’s Volleyball Coach of the Year, while the King’s took the 2014 CCAA Men’s Volleyball National Championship title.

“He’s got a winning record, and he’s incredibly committed to the sport. The athletes playing for him are truly blessed,” says Jim Buck, member of the CCAA awards committee.

The level-3 NCCP coach leads weekly technical clinics with the Central Alberta Kings Volleyball Club teams, as well as high-performance pre-season clinics.

Schulha received the award on Thursday, April 10. The award is co-presented by Coaches of Canada; Schulha will receive a one-year free membership to Coaches of Canada and a gift co-branded by Coaches of Canada and the CCAA.

The award caps off an incredible season for Red Deer athletics; they won CCAA national championship titles in men’s volleyball, women’s volleyball and women’s curling,  as well as silver in men’s basketball.

The CCAA is a national sport organization that enriches the lives of student-athletes through intercollegiate competition.
