Sandra Lamb awarded 2011 Coaching Excellence Award Across All CCAA Sports

The CCAA's highest coaching honouree is selected based on their contribution to sport, positive leadership and commitment to educational goals.

Lamb has led the Mount Royal University Cougars to three ACAC provincial championships (2007, 2008, 2011) two CCAA national bronze medals (2001, 2004) and a 2008 CCAA national silver medal, culminating with a CCAA national championship title earned at the 2011 CCAA Women's Volleyball Championships earlier this month.

"Sandra has had tremendous success in her sport," said Ray Sarkis, CCAA vice-president of programs. "She's being recognized not only for this year's accomplishments, but for her impressive history as a coach."

Lamb has received earlier recognition for her accomplishments; she was twice named the ACAC Women's Volleyball Coach of the Year (2004, 2008) and was the 2004 CCAA Women's Volleyball Coach of the Year.

When not on the court with the Cougars, Lamb coaches for the Dino Women's Volleyball Club, AVA (Alberta Volleyball Association) High Performance Camps and at summer volleyball camps. Her coaching goal is to contribute to Canada's national volleyball program.

The other nominees for the 2011 Coaching Excellence Award Across All CCAA Sports were: David Desloges of Collège Francois-Xavier-Garneau, John Loney of Fanshawe College, Steve Manuel of the University of British Columbia Okanagan, Nigel Mullen of Briercrest Bible College and Seminary, and Rick Plato of Mount Saint Vincent University.
