2019 CCAA Soccer Wildcards

2019 CCAA Soccer Wildcards

Wildcard berths have been confirmed for the 2019 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association Men’s and Women’s National Championships.

The Pacific Western Athletic Association (PACWEST) and Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) will receive wildcard entries to the 2019 CCAA Men’s Soccer National Championship. The tournament will be hosted by Durham College in Oshawa, ON, from Nov. 6-9.

The Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) is currently first overall in the wildcard standings but as host of the National Championship, the conference relinquishes its wildcard berth.

Meanwhile, the Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec (RSEQ) and OCAA have earned wildcard berths to the 2019 CCAA Women’s Soccer National Championship. The tournament will be hosted by Concordia University of Edmonton in Edmonton, AB, from Nov. 6-9.

CCAA Men’s & Women’s Soccer National Championships consist of eight teams: Five provincial champions, two wildcards and the host institution.

The wildcard spots are awarded to CCAA member conferences based on their performance at National Championships over the past three years. Conferences awarded wildcard positions are eligible to send a second team to CCAA Nationals. A conference may not fill more than two spots at a CCAA national championship, which excludes the host conference from being eligible for wildcards.

At the 2018 CCAA Women’s Soccer National Championship, the RSEQ wildcard Champlain Cavaliers captured CCAA gold with a victory over the RSEQ champion Élans de Garneau in the championship final.

Meanwhile at the 2018 CCAA Men’s Soccer National Championship, the OCAA wildcard Sheridan Bruins defeated the PACEWST’s Capilano Blues in the bronze-medal game to earn a CCAA medal.
