Pair of ACAA schools to co-host CCAA Women’s Soccer Nationals

June 7, 2016 – Two Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association institutions will partner to host a CCAA National Championship in Women’s Soccer.

Dalhousie Agricultural Campus and the University of King’s College have been awarded the 2017 CCAA Women’s Soccer National Championship. The bid was approved today in Toronto during the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association annual general meeting.

The tournament will be held in Nova Scotia, Nov. 8-11, 2017.

“The joint venture of DAL AC and UKC being the host for this National Championship is very exciting,” said Marlene Ford, CCAA Women’s Soccer Convenor. “I am sure the teams will be treated to a very special tournament.”

Both institutions have recently hosted National Championships. DAL AC welcomed the CCAA’s best in Men’s Basketball in 2012 and Women’s Basketball the following season, while UKC hosted Badminton in 2015.

“As a co-host we will work with UKC staff to ensure the event is technically exceptional and the student-athletes have an outstanding student experience,” said Judy Smith, Director of Athletic Services at DAL AC.

The CCAA National Championship action will take place at the Mainland Commons fields in Halifax.

The host team for the National Championship will be determined by the final placing between the DAL AC Rams and the UKC Blue Devils in Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association play during the 2017 soccer season.

The 2016 CCAA Women’s Soccer National Championship will be hosted by College Ahuntsic in Montreal, QC, Nov. 9-12.

The CCAA is a national sport organization enriching the academic experiences of student-athletes through intercollegiate sport.
