2019 CCAA Basketball Wildcards

2019 CCAA Basketball Wildcards

Wildcard positions have now been determined for the 2019 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Men’s and Women’s Basketball National Championships.

Wildcard berths in CCAA Women’s Basketball will go to the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) and Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC). The Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec (RSEQ) currently sits ahead of the ACAC in the wildcard standings but as the host conference, they relinquish their wildcard spot

The 2019 CCAA Women’s Basketball National Championship will be hosted by Cégep de Sainte-Foy in Sainte-Foy, QC, from March 13-16.

Last season, the Nomades de Montmorency, the RSEQ wildcard entry, earned a bronze medal at CCAA Nationals in Sackville, NB.

Meanwhile, wildcard positions in CCAA Men’s Basketball will be awarded to teams from the OCAA and RSEQ.

The 2019 CCAA Men’s Basketball National Championship will be hosted by Langara College in Langley, BC, from March 13-16.

CCAA Men’s & Women’s Basketball National Championships consist of eight teams: Five provincial champions, two wildcards and the host.

The wildcard spots are awarded to CCAA member conferences based on their performance at National Championships over the past three years. Conferences awarded wildcard positions are eligible to send a second team to CCAA Nationals. A conference may not fill more than two spots at a CCAA National Championship, which excludes the host conference from being eligible for wildcards.
