One of the themes established in the first day of play continued in day 2 and that was the dominance of the OCAA1 team as they defeated the ACAC2 team and the PACWEST by scores of 5-0.
The ACAC1 team also continued to play well with a 4-1 win over the ACAA and a hard fought 3-2 win over the OCAA2 team. The ACAA managed to get their first win in Round Robin play with a 3-2 win over the ACAC2 team in round 5. The PACWEST had a tough day as they lost to the OCAA2 team by a score of 4-1 and to the OCAA1 team 5-0.
The players of Round 4nwere Yan Zhou (OCAA) and Jaryd Morrissey (ACAA) while the players of Round 5 were Wenchao Shi (OCAA) and Lindsay Ross (ACAC2).
The semi-final matches produced some fantastic play and very tight matches highlighted by the Men’s and Women’s Doubles which were both thrilling three game affairs.
In the Men’s match #2 versus #3 match, featuring the PACWEST and the ACAC the PACWEST team of Matthew Downton and Jethro Lai eventually defeated the ACAC1 team of Jeffery Ko and Nick Roque but not until going into extra points in the 3rd game. They will now face the OCAA team of Adam Dong and Ryan Chow for the Gold.
In the Women’s Doubles #2 versus #3 match Rachel Nham and Yan Zhou of the OCAA narrowly defeated Rachael Smillie and Takeisha Wang of the ACAC2 team in a grueling three game match and will face the ACAC duo of Kai-Li-Huang and Seulbi Kim of the ACAC in the final.
The mixed matches saw the ACAC1 team of Sam Kim and Rosanna Chan and Jesse Assing and Phithita Nilyok of the OCAA emerge victorious and will face off in the Gold Medal game.
In the singles events Olivia Lei will face Melissa Lieu of the PACWEST and Wenchao Shi faces fellow Ontarioan Owen Kurtvis in what promise to be a great couple of singles finals.
